Jorge Lorenzo crashes again on his injured shoulder, probably out for this weekend and Laguna Seca; Stefan Bradl on top by 0.017 seconds
After showing incredible bravery two weeks ago in Assen when he finished fifth with a freshly repaired left collarbone to keep his world title hopes alive, reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo unfortunately suffered another crash during today’s practice sessions at the German Sachsenring circuit that has most likely ruled him out of this weekend’s Grand Prix race. The Yamaha Factory Racing rider highsided in the left-hand turn 10 that precedes the fast downhill section of the circuit, and landed heavily on his upper back—resulting in the titanium plate that is holding his fractured collarbone together being bent in the fall. “The diagnosis after the fall is that the osteosynthesis material (titanium plate) is bent in the middle. The screws of the proximal and distal have endured but Jorge will need a new intervention to re-attach the clavicle, because the plate has been curved slightly,” stated Dr. Enric Cáceres of the MotoGP Medical Team.
