Iconic British sports car manufacturer Lotus announced plans to build “its own and first-ever motorcycle” via its newly formed Lotus Motorcycles subsidiary. Named the Lotus C-01, the bike will be a joint project of German auto racing team Kodewa (who field the factory-backed Lotus LMP2 team in the FIA World Endurance Championship), the Holzer Group (a German manufacturing conglomerate), and former Bugatti and Volkswagen designer Daniel Simon. The company press release states that the C-01 will be a “hyper-bike with integrated racing technology…manufactured of materials like carbon, titanium and aerospace quality steel, which are also used in Formula 1.”
