"I knew I could go well here" declared Lombardi. "I like the track, I was in good shape and my technicians gave me a perfect bike. I want to dedicate this win to my team, to my family, my sponsors and all my fans who at every race, at every podium, are always by my side living me support. Now I want the title."
The Italian, after a great start from pole, immediately managed to pull away in the early laps. In the final stages however he was put under pressure by Josh Day (Racedays Kawasaki), Tomas Krajci (Yamaha TK Racing Slovakia) and Gauthier Duwelz (Honda MTM-RT Motorsports), but held on to take the chequered flag for the win.
With the title battle now wide-open, Lombardi will be called upon for a repeat performance at Silverstone, the scene for round 6 from 29 to 31 July.
