Schwantz School down to just one, maybe two dates for 2013

The Schwantz School announced today that it has pared down its schedule to just one and maybe two dates for 2013 due to a decline in attendance. Although running schools at Road Atlanta and Barber Motorsports Park in the past, the riding school run by former 500cc Grand Prix champion Kevin Schwantz will only be running a two-day school at Indianapolis in conjunction with the MotoGP weekend in August. Schwantz cited the fact that the high-end operational requirements of his riding school made it impossible to cut corners any further in order to reduce the entrance fee while still making it economically feasible to run.

The Schwantz School apparently will be keeping its current fleet of bikes, which include Moriwaki MD250H Moto3-style racebikes, for 2013 just in case there’s enough demand for an additional school date at Indy or possibly another track. A previously planned move by the school from its former Barber Motorsports Park base to the newly constructed Circuit of the Americas has also been put on hold, due to a pending lawsuit by Schwantz against the track regarding the promotion of the upcoming MotoGP event in April.
