Yamaha's Eugene Laverty earned his first World Superbike race wins in style at the Monza round, taking a double victory for the weekend
It appears that Max Biaggi’s premonitions of caution at all the talk of him running away and scoring an easy double win at Monza due to the outright speed of his Aprilia were true to say the least, as the weekend definitely didn’t work out quite as expected. Instead of a runaway, Biaggi had his hands full with the surprising speed of the Yamahas of Eugene Laverty and Marco Melandri, with Laverty proving to be the man of the day, taking the victory in both races.
