Murrieta, CA - The five-man Bonanza Plumbing/FMF/KTM Off-Road Racing Team is prepped and ready for the big day as they are set to compete in tomorrow's 43rd Annual running of the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.
The past few months the five member team has tirelessly been hard at work preparing their bodies and the machine for the long 1000 mile trek. The machine of choice is the KTM 530 XC-W. After much testing, and one 24-hour test the riders have the upmost confidence in their race bike and are now eagerly awaiting the green flag at tomorrow's race.
This year's Bonanza Plumbing/FMF/KTM Off-Road Racing Team members are FMF/KTM factory rider and the 2007 Hare & Hound National Champion David Pearson, multi-time Baja Champions Steve Hengeveld, Mike Childress and Shane Esposito along with the youngest member of this 'dream team' Ivan Ramirez.
Ramirez is a native of Mexico and a dubbed a 'guardian' to the KTM Team. "We are so thankful to have Ivan on our team. This is the first time I have raced Baja where we have a rider that can communicate with all of the promoters, race fans and officials. I feel like we already have an advantage," remarked Pearson. In the history of the Baja 1000 there has never been a Mexican citizen on top of the podium, hopefully the KTM team can make history!
Ramirez will lead the way for the team at the start of the race. From there the running order will be Pearson, Childress, Esposito and for the final miles Hengeveld. The team has one goal in mind as they head into race day - to win! Stay tuned to www.ktmusa.com for the final results.
