Rain forces restart of Superpole 3, angering Tom Sykes who had set lap record prior to stoppage
Rain showers on parts of the Silverstone circuit as the final World Superbike Superpole 3 session was underway caused race organizers to red-flag the session with four minutes to go and restart it as a wet session, unfortunately ruling out Kawasaki rider Tom Sykes’ lap record time of 2:03.262. The restarted 20-minute session began in wet conditions, but many of the riders stayed out on slicks in anticipation of the track drying out, which it did. With less than four minutes to go, the track dried out enough that a handful of riders began trying to set their quick times in dodgy conditions.
