Seattle, Washington, April 23, 2012 – Privateer Gavin Faith made his team JGRMX/ Toyota/ Yamaha debut this weekend at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash. for round 15 of the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. 52,731 fans gathered at the open-roof stadium, where an onslaught of rain last week left muddy conditions for riders to contend with this weekend.

As James ‘Bubba’ Stewart remains sidelined with a fractured hand, current second place contender Davi Millsaps joined Faith for a shortened practice run early Saturday. The duo rode on Pirelli Scorpion MX Midsoft tires. “With the softer conditions we faced in Seattle we opted to use Scorpion MX MXMS front and rear combination,” commented Josh Whitmire, Pirelli North America Off Road Manager. “The track builders did a fantastic job with the track and I have to say the dirt was really good.”
In the qualifying heats, Faith appeared secure for a qualifying position when he became tangled with another rider on the last lap, resulting in a last chance qualifier (LCQ). He was unable to achieve the start he needed to advance to the main event. Millsaps transferred directly from heat two. In the main event, Millsaps found himself mid-pack amidst heavy traffic to start. With continued consistency, he moved steadily forward throughout the race. Millsaps finished fifth, and remains second overall in series points.
With only two rounds left, Millsaps find himself in a close battle for podium position. Stewart is currently sixth overall and will require approval from doctors before he can return this season. “Our best wishes go out to James as he recovers from his injury. We hope to see the #7 back on the track soon,” said Whitmire.
Round 16 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship will be held April 28 at the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. The original broadcast will air on April 29 at 1:00 p.m. (EST) on CBS.
