All Honda riders sit out second day after Pedrosa engine failure causes riding hold; rain continues to interrupt proceedings

Day Two results of the official MotoGP Sepang II test saw rain showers once again interrupting the proceedings, in addition to all four Honda riders (Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa, LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl, and San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista) sitting out the entire day as a precautionary measure due to an engine failure light observed on Dani Pedrosa’s bike at the conclusion of yesterday’s test. The engine was sent back to Japan for analysis last night, but by the time the factory gave the OK to ride in the afternoon, rain was already coming down hard at the circuit, and the Honda teams packed it in for the day.

The rain and lack of Honda riders didn’t prevent Yamaha’s Ben Spies from improving his time from yesterday by more than 1.5 seconds and ending up atop the timesheets for Wednesday. The Texan even ventured out into the rain in order to get some wet setup testing done, as he had not ridden the 1000 in the rain yet.
