Althea Racing Ducati's Carlos Checa takes his third consecutive pole position, edging out Jakub Smrz, Eugene Laverty, and Nori Haga
World Superbike order was apparently restored on Saturday at the Netherland’s famous Assen circuit, with Althea Racing Ducati’s Carlos Checa grabbing his third consecutive Superpole in as many tries, after struggling a bit during Friday’s practice sessions and initially languishing outside the top ten. The veteran Spaniard’s lap of 1:35.292 was comfortably inside of second qualifier Jakub Smrz’s 1:35.560 effort on the Effenbert-Liberty Racing Ducati, with Yamaha’s Eugene Laverty third and Pata Racing Aprilia’s Nori Haga filling out the front row.
